Two of Chris's most popular lectures: “British seaside pleasure piers” - how the Victorians and Edwardians combined architecture, engineering and design to create a uniquely British institution. “Charles Dickens - social reformer” - how Dickens used his writings to campaign on behalf of the poor and disadvantaged, and for social change.
AUTHOR TALKS: Chris says: "I've been giving my 'AUTHOR TALKS' to local groups for some years now. Based on one or more of my books, I try to make them as entertaining and informative as possible. Most are illustrated: I have my own projector and screen. The most popular subjects are NELLIE'S BOOK (early life of Victoria Wood's mother), WALKING OVER THE WAVES (all UK seaside pleasure piers),WHEN I'M SIXTY-FOUR (1,001 things to do at 60+), MEMORIES OF FRANCES (the remarkable life of my late wife). For local groups, I normally only charge expenses. Just get in touch, and if we can agree a date - I'll be there! I normally end my talk with a book signing.
